River Vale Community


River Vale is a small town in the Pascack Valley area of Bergen County, New Jersey Formed in 1906; River Vale is today home to approximately 10,000 residents. Its neighboring communities include Old Tappan, Hillsdale, Harrington Park, Westwood, Woodcliff Lake and Park Ridge. To the north is Lake Tappan and the New York state line.
 
River Vale is a very charming community, full of history, culture, and year ‘round events for all ages. Flowing with attractive neighborhoods and tree covered, beautiful streets, it is commonly referred to as the Garden Spot of the Pascack Valley.
 
The town has a wonderful community spirit that runs all throughout the calendar year. There are an abundance of cultural, historic, and seasonal events such as the Memorial Day Parade, the Father’s Day Olympics, Octoberfest, and the Halloween Ragamuffin Parade. In the summer, River Vale is also the home to an amazing Farmer’s Market.
 
The center of River Vale is known as Four Corners and is home to the town’s business & commercial community. Here, residents find wonderful dining, great local shopping, and the home of one of the most recent community events, the Centennial Town Clock.
 
The town’s most notable historic event occurred back in 1778 during the Revolutionary War. The famous Baylor Dragoon Massacre was discovered in the 1960’s and a small park at the site was dedicated by the county in 1972. Read more about the Baylor Massacre here!
 
 


River Vale Education


River Vale is served by the River Vale Public Schools including Roberge Elementary, Woodside Elementary, and Holdrum Middle School.  Together these schools educate just over 1300 students from kindergarten to eighth grade. High schoolers are served by the Pascack Valley Regional High School District and typically attend Pascack Valley High.
 


River Vale Employment


Many of the River Vale residents commute to neighboring towns or cities for employment, as it is located close to New York City, Hackensack, and other such urban areas. In fact the average commute for River Vale residents who travel to work is roughly 30 minutes, which is a pretty easy commute! However, if you are looking for work in town, River Vale’s major industries are educational, health & social (21.5%), administrative, management, professional, & scientific (15.3%), real estate, finance, & insurance, (11.1&), and finally retail (10.1%).


River Vale Housing


River Vale provides a variety of housing opportunities. Ranging from brand new construction to condominiums (and everything in between!), this charming town is flooded with beautiful homes throughout it’s shade covered streets. Prices for these homes range roughly between $450,000 and $1,500,000 with an average price coming in at just above $700,000.  Bergen County is one of the wealthier counties in New Jersey with a strong housing market & low interest rages. Combined with an excellent school systems and safe living, River Vale homes are an excellent investment!

River Vale Recreation


River Vale provides an array of sporting & other recreational opportunities such as athletic fields, playgrounds, private swimming pools, and tennis courts. In addition, little league sports (soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, football, etc.) and a summer program are offered by the town.
